Hey, it's Geb from Email Rev Lab!
At 9:04 pm, I typed my email into a tiny form buried at the bottom-left corner of Klean Athlete's website.
No pop-up. No discount. No urgency. Just a plain text field and a button that says "SIGN UP."
By 9:15 pm, my inbox was empty.

The Brand Bridge:
Klean Athlete was founded in 2012 by athletes for athletes. Every single product they sell is NSF Certified for Sport, tested for 290 banned substances. They're trusted by 350+ pro and collegiate sports teams. That's not a small brand. That's a credibility machine.
But credibility in the lab doesn't fix a broken email funnel.
A brand that tests every product batch for banned substances hasn't tested whether their welcome email actually arrives.
The Pop-up Test:
There isn't one.
No exit intent. No scroll trigger. No 10%-off offer. Nothing fires when you land on the site.
The only way to subscribe is a plain sign-up form sitting quietly in the footer. If a visitor doesn't scroll all the way down and look left, they never see it. That's not a list-building strategy. That's an accident.
The Tech Test:
I signed up at 9:04 pm. At 9:15 pm, still no email in my inbox, promotions tab, or spam folder.
Eleven minutes of silence. Research shows 74% of subscribers expect a welcome email the moment they sign up. That expectation doesn't last 11 minutes.
In Klaviyo, welcome emails should trigger within 60 seconds of sign-up. If it's delayed, the culprit is usually a misconfigured trigger or a sending domain that's throttling delivery.
Either way, someone is leaking the list they worked hard to build.
The Inbox Test:
Can't evaluate what doesn't arrive.
But delayed welcome emails often land in Promotions or spam, which kills open rates regardless of subject line quality.
The Email Creative Test:
No email to review. That's the whole problem.
The Solution (Klaviyo Fix):
Go to Flows in Klaviyo. Find (or build) your Welcome Series trigger. Set it to fire when someone joins your email list, with a 0-minute delay on the first email.
Check your sending domain in Account > Settings > Email > Sending Domains. Make sure it's verified and warmed up.
Add a pop-up in Klaviyo's Sign-up Forms. Use a 10-second time delay, a clear incentive, and set email delivery to instant.
This is a one-day fix.
The Impact Statement:
Research shows only 50% of brands send welcome emails immediately after sign-up. Klean Athlete has no pop-up at all, which means they're losing people before that window even opens.
Here's what I'm curious about: How many people found that footer form, typed their email in, and never heard back? And how many of those went to Amazon 10 minutes later?
The Pitch:
Klean Athlete has the credibility. The team trust. The certifications.
They just need an email system that works as hard as their products do.
I send these audits daily because bottlenecks like this can be fixed in one day with the right information.
Want me to audit your Klaviyo account the same way?
Reply to this email and I'll send you a free breakdown of where your welcome series is leaking revenue.
