Hey, it's Geb from Email Rev Lab!
I signed up for Garden of Life's pop-up at 8:39 pm last night.
By 9:02 pm, I still had no welcome email.
23 minutes. Not 5. Not 10. Twenty-three minutes of silence after I handed over my email address.
That's not a delay. That's a dropout factory.
The Brand Bridge:

It all started in 2000 when Jordan Rubin beat severe Crohn's disease through whole food nutrition. That experience sparked Garden of Life, a mission to bring real, organic food-powered supplements to everyone chasing better health. Gardenoflifecom
They're USDA Organic, Non-GMO verified, and B Corp certified. Life Ext-foodension That's a brand that earned its credibility the hard way.
But none of that matters if your new subscriber is staring at an empty inbox for 23 minutes.
The Pop-up Test:

The pop-up offered 10% off vitamins and supplements made with "pure, whole-food ingredients." Clean copy. Clear promise. Good offer.
The confirmation screen showed a copyable coupon code ("garden10") right after. That part worked.
What broke is everything after.
The Tech Test:
No welcome email arrived within 23 minutes of signing up. None.
The pop-up delivered the code on-screen, so Garden of Life probably thinks the job is done. It's not.
The buyer who closes the tab, forgets the code, or switches devices is gone. No email means no second chance.
The Inbox Test:
There's nothing to test here. The email never arrived.
No subject line working for them. No brand story being told. No product recommendation warming the new subscriber up. Just silence.
The Email Creative Test:
Can't audit what doesn't exist.
The Fix (Klaviyo):
Go to Klaviyo. Open your Welcome Series flow. Check the trigger. Make sure it's firing on "Subscribed to List" and not a segment with a delay filter attached.
Set the first email to send immediately. Zero delay. The second it fires, it should land.
Add the coupon code inside the welcome email itself. Don't rely on the on-screen confirmation alone. Buyers forget. Inboxes don't.
The Impact Statement:
74% of subscribers expect a welcome email immediately after signing up. Real-time welcome emails convert at 4.01% compared to just 0.94% for delayed sends. Invesp, a 23-minute gap is one of the worst I've seen.
The Curiosity Hook:
Here's what I'm curious about: how many buyers grabbed that on-screen code, never got a follow-up email, and never came back?
The Pitch:
Garden of Life built something real. Jordan's story is the kind of "why" that converts buyers into fans. They just need their email infrastructure to match the quality of their products.
I send these audits daily because bottlenecks like this can be fixed in one day with the right information.
Want me to audit your Klaviyo account the same way? Reply to this email and I'll send you a free breakdown of where your welcome series is leaking revenue.
